From a characterisation of the manierist period of the occidental history (between 1520 and 1620); Arnold Hauser defined it as the crisis of the European conscience that arose after and as a consequence of the Renascence, the figure of Teresa of Jesus is chosen in order to analyse how the difficult existential situation for the men and women of Europe of that time was lived and saved by her.A partir de una caracterización del periodo manierista de la historia occidental (aproximadamente entre 1520 y 1620), según lo definió Arnold Hauser como la crisis de la conciencia europea que sobrevino después y como consecuencia del Renacimiento, se elige a la figura de Teresa de Jesús para analizar cómo fue vivida y salvada por ella la difícil situación existencial que supuso ese tiempo en los hombres y mujeres de Europa.
