El problema de la representación. Notas para el análisis de la religiosidad popular de los mexicanos en el exilio

This article analysis the relation between the material representation of the sacred and its ritual connotation. How do the representatives that talk about something that it is not present become the popular imagery of the representation itself? Moreover, how has the iconographic tradition of the catholic church contributed in generating the beliefs in religious images? From the discussion of the hometown as a sacred space, this article proposes some elements to fully understand the typification of the images of the sacred, specially by the Mexican who live abroad, as will as the images of the construction of new sanctuaries where the devotions of origen are transplants to spaces of destiny.El articulo analiza la relación entre la representación material de lo sagrado y sus connotaciones rituales. ¿De qué manera las representaciones, que hablan de algo que no está presente, se convierten en el imaginario popular en lo representado mismo? Además: ¿Cómo la tradición iconográfica de la iglesia católica ha contribuido a generar la creencia en las imágenes religiosas? A partir de la discusión del "terruño" como un espacio sagrado, el articulo propone algunos elementos para comprender la valoración de las imágenes de lo sagrado, en especial, por parte de los mexicanos radicados en el extranjero, junto con la edificación de nuevos santuarios en los que las devociones de origen se ven trasplantadas a los espacios de destino.
